The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) on Tuesday announced the release of the results of the 2017 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.
The head of the Nigeria National office of the WAEC, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, made the announcement at a press conference which was also used to announce the 55th annual meeting of the council’s Nigeria National Committee holding in Katsina.
According to WAEC, 34,664 candidates obtained a minimum of credits in five subjects and above including English language and General Mathematics.
The figure represents 26.01% of the 133,223 candidates that sat for the examinations in Nigeria.
The percentage of candidates in this category in the WASSCE for private candidates in 2015 and 2016 was 28.59% and 38.50%, respectively.
Adenipekun said that the WASSCE for private candidates, 2017 was conducted in all the five member countries of WAEC, from August 15 to October 4, 2017.
To check for your 2017 NOV/DEC WASSCE results, follow the steps as stated below:
- Get a WAEC scratch card from any Banks, Post Office, Authorized Dealers and WAEC office nearest to you in your area.
- Go to WAEC result checking official portal at www.waecdirect.org
- Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)
- Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2015
- Select the Type of Examination:(Nov/Dec WASSCE)
- Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
- Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
- Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up
